Project Title: Data standards integration

Objectives: To devise, implement and test a data integration method that allows data fusion and reuse of building, GIS and city-scale data sources. The most relevant open-standards-based data sources are to be identified in the first period of the ESR – for example, IFC, bSDD, CIS/2 and CityGML will be looked at in the first instance. Support will be included for open standards that have several versions and several serialisations; a good example is the ifcOWL that is available for IFC2x3 TC1, IFC4 and IFC4x1. The complicated problem to solve within this ESR, however, is how to map the different data sources on each other in a way it works generically for any set of instance files.

Expected Results: A set of ontologies representing content from the open standards selected. These ontologies are accompanied with ontologies describing how different content can be seen in an integrated way. A prototype application will be created to visualise the integrated results from uploadable/selectable content files in different formats. This prototype will be based on an open source data store and is to be made publicly available.
