Eastman Top PhD Paper Award at the joint CIB W78 – LDAC 2021 conference in Luxembourg (https://lnkd.in/evpsEkc).}^{This award, presented at each of CIB W78’s annual international conferences, recognizes the importance of developing top young researchers in the field “the application of integrated IT throughout the life-cycle of the design, construction and occupancy of buildings and related facilities”. The award is named after a seminal researcher in this field, Chuck Eastman, who has, over his illustrious career, supervised and mentored many of the top researchers found across the world.}

^{Zijian’s research titled “Room Type Classification for Semantic Enrichment of Building Information Modeling Using Graph Neural Networks” represents BIM models as graphs and applies Graph Neural Networks (GNN) to BIM graphs for semantic enrichment. A GNN model was trained for room type classification of residential apartments and was compared against other machine learning algorithms. It pioneers the use of GNN in BIM and opens the door to other possible applications.}
